In our never ending quest to increase sales, we decided to try and extend our hours a couple of days a week. So Mika went up and down Main Street trying to drum up support for this plan.
A few already stay open late every day, others agreed to try it and many said this has been done before and doesn't work.
Undaunted and with the advice of Ahlgren's pal Charles Tremblay - owner of Tremblay's Sweet Shop - we extended our hours to 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
The consumer has spoken. After four weeks it is pretty apparent that although there are people walking the streets of Hayward after 6 p.m. (our traditional summer closing time) not many people are in the mood to buy anything other than ice cream, candy and t-shirts. As a matter of fact, I believe we've sold a total $50 for both stores combined.
On to the next idea.
Only one post in June?!! It's been a busy summer - hauling kids around, work and very little play.
I have many things I've wanted to post over the past month or so - I'm going to try to catch up here in the next few days.
