Our lighting showroom is up and running. We can now offer a wide variety of lighting for your home or business from outside to everywhere inside your home.
Have Mika give you her unique take on lighting for your project or just tell her what you want. Either way, we can help you light up your home!
It's been a while since I've posted so I wanted to fill you in on what's been happening.
For a variety of reasons, I have a new job and the Lord found one for me right here in Hayward. I work for NorthernBridges, check it out.
I'm still going to try and update the website for 2009, get pictures of new products and keep you up to date on what's happening at Ahlgren's.
We have opened the Annex again this summer. Next to the Hookstone winery, it will feature overstock, scratched and dented items at great prices.
Unfortunately, we closed the Ely store after three years. I think we were ahead of our time up there. The building's for sale if you're looking for an opportunity.
Mika and I just returned from the furniture market in High Point, NC. As I"ve said before, markets are an exhausting experience. We are on our feet walking around different showrooms from 8 am to 6 pm for two and a half days.
My back is still aching.
But we did see some great merchandise. Most of it will be here next Spring.
It is fun to sell an item to someone who is so excited about it. A gal today purchased an acorn pendant tiffany light and was thrilled.
She had come in during the summer and saw it. She came back this fall during the quiet time and took it all in. I showed her how it works and the other color option. She looked admiringly at it for a long time and pulled the trigger.
I'm happy it worked out, many times when someone comes back we are sold out of the item they were interested in.
I love it when a vehicle pulls right up to the front door, the people get out and come into the store with a mission.
You can tell they are serious buyers. No haggling, no nonsense types who pick out items they enjoy and buy them.
There used to be more customers like that, but in today's environment when they do come in it feels like a gift from God.
Every time someone said, "If I only had a cabin to put this in," or, "Now I'm going to have to build a cabin so I can buy something."
Two couples from Chicago were strolling through the store and on their way out were - as so many people do - gushing about how nice the store was.
One of the husbands said, "I'm sure he appreciates the compliments, but I think he would like revenues more."
Now there is a man who must run his own business.
The sun is shining, there is crispness in the air and the color on the trees is breathtaking. Another beautiful day in the Northland.
Tomorrow is Cranberry Fest in Stone Lake and Apple Fest up in Bayfield. These bring people to Hayward on their way to or from those events. It already seems to be bringing people to town as the store is hopping this Friday morning.
The electricians are working on the power upgrade in the new lighting room, Mika is helping customers special order new bedding and customers are roaming the store.
It's a glorious day, praise the Lord.
Everything's coming together. We're working on the displays we purchased to refinish them to fit our style. The power upgrade is continuing tomorrow and we've ordered 4x6 beams to be the support for the hanging lights.
The investment required to open the new lighting lines is the hard part. Everyone has large minimums to open up their product to us. So, getting 3 or 4 new vendors will be the most for now. Hopefully as this takes off, we can offer more.
But, these new lines will enable us to offer many lighting options for the outside and the entire inside of your home.
